The inclination towards playing outdoors has reduced to a greater extent with time. Children are now more interested in staying indoors while playing with gadgets or other stuff rather than engaging in healthy sports outside. This has made them physically weaker and less tolerant towards the infections and diseases and they are more prone to catch viruses than children before.
While we count on the benefits of playing outdoors and engaging with nature more than we usually do, it is to be noted that for this to be done, we as parents need to involve ourselves with the kids at all levels so that they can realize its importance while also having fun.
1. Physical fitness
Since outdoor plays require the kids to utilize their energies and stay active, their stamina keeps building along with their immunity and the defence mechanism of the body activates. This way they are able to fight any disease and prevent many, all by natural means.
2. Attention span
Children who indulge in outdoor plays are able to focus more on a given task. Their curiosity, interest, exposure and self-direction enhances that helps them to concentrate on a task for a longer period of time.
3. Sensory skills
Children who are glued to television and laptops make use of only two of their senses that is sight and hearing while on the other hand; those who play outdoors are using all five of their senses and that is what makes them improve their sense of sight, hear, smell, touch and taste because their learning cycle is going on.
4. Sense of independence
Though it is not advised to leave them alone outdoors, even just watching them play grants them a feeling of independence where they explore the surrounding on their own and making new friends, riding cycles on their own self-made area and playing with whatever they like.
