With the increase in the number of working moms, their problems regarding maternity and struggles in their initial years of motherhood are claiming recognition and consideration in the international world. There are examples of many women politicians who brought along their child to work and this act of theirs was praised and noted.
Recently, a Balochistan MPA Mahjabeen Sheeran was stopped from entering and asked to leave the assembly because she brought her sick child with her. According to her, the lawmakers are not allowed to bring their child as per the rules. Despite being widely criticized by fellow mates, the support she has received from social media has encouraged her to initiate a campaign that is aimed at the grant of day care facilities in assemblies and once she succeeds to do so, she will move the same towards offices and banks.
This sounds like a ray of hope for many Pakistani women facing the same struggles. Not everyone can afford a house help yet leaving their houses to share the financial burden is a necessity of many women. Because not everyone’s situation is ideal and they go through their own sets of challenges and difficulties; In such circumstances, daycare facilities provided within the working place will not only put mothers at ease but will also serve as means of keeping the bond grow stronger and making the mothers worry less about their child while giving their 100% towards their work and also being able to see the child in case he is sick or needs some motherly love to cope up with the day. Because children are small. They need their parents by their side if not always, then at times.
This initiative will also increase the output results and women will tend to perform better while being productive for both, the employee and the employer. Let’s hope that Mahjabeen succeeds in her goals and raising awareness regarding this issue which needs attention.
