The competition was an extension of Circle of Care’s Effective Reading Language Development Program® which runs on Mondays and Saturdays after school hours at Alliance Francaise de Karachi. The event aimed to foster learning in students and provide them with a local platform to compete on, which will hopefully motivate them to aspire toward participating and excelling in global competitions as well.

The competition was divided into age groups: 8-10 years and 11-14 years. It was a nail-biting experience as the participants spelled out one word after another and at the end, Raeed Mujtaba from St. Michael’s Convent School won in the age group 8-10 years and Hafsa Adnan from Rivers Oaks Academy won in the age group 11-14 years.

Hina Quraeshi Rizvi, Director at Circle of Care, said “I think if the contestants left with having learnt even one new word from this, they are winners because winning is nothing but learning.”

Ayesha Chundrigar from the Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (ACF) was also present and lauded the participants wholeheartedly. The winners received certificates, trophies and a cash prize of PKR 5,000 from Circle of Care, prizes from Paramount Books and a cash prize from Educational Technologies Limited (ETL) of PKR 5,000.

Circle of Care’s after school program is one of the most successful ones in Karachi where students between the ages 5 and 14 years attempt to learn and improve the English language and sharpen their Mental Math skills. Coincidentally they also score top grades in their schools.
