Syed Jaffar Raza, a student at the PakTurk International School in Lahore, scored a gold medal at the seventh International Math Challenge held in Bangkok from February 22nd to 24th, 2018. The aim of the competition was to encourage students to study and excel in math and critical thinking.
Raza, an exceptional student, was one of six Pakistani students who participated with over 600 students in the competition which was held at the Pan Asia International School in Bangkok. The students were divided into 180 teams representing 17 countries including Romania, Cambodia, Nigeria and Sri Lanka among others.
The students from PakTurk International School were accompanied by their Vice Principal, Mr. Khalid Zeeshan. They brought home seven medals including three silver and three bronze medals in addition to Raza’s gold.
A Math teacher at the school, Ms. Zehra Nayyar said, “The global competition has highlighted Pakistani students’ talent. It has also presented them a chance to excel.”
In 2015, Rajneesh Bhatti from Jamshoro scored gold at the event and we congratulate Raza and his fellow students for keeping his legacy alive and making the nation proud!
