Following Zainab’s brutal rape and murder, we felt the need to talk to an expert in the field. So, we asked Dr. Asha Bedar, a clinical psychologist, to give some pointers for parents and educators in order to prevent and spot signs of child sexual abuse.
Dr, Asha is both, a parent and clinical psychologist with a PhD from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She has also conducted sessions regarding this issue at NGOs and schools in Karachi.
It is imperative for parents and educators today to be aware of this issue and to provide children not only with open lines of communication but also age-appropriate guidance to prevent child sexual abuse.
We, at ChalkTalk, are very grateful to Dr. Asha for her time and input regarding this issue.
